Under the supervision of the Director of Supplier Diversity, the Capacity Building Coordinator will play a pivotal role in enhancing the capabilities of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) within the community. This individual will be responsible for forging strong relationships with local organizations, soliciting small businesses to apply for SLDBE certification, initiating contact with newly certified DBEs, and facilitating mentorship connections across various DBE vendors. A significant aspect of this role involves proactive community outreach to vendors, ensuring they are informed and engaged with the opportunities available through the Office of Supplier Diversity. 1. Proactively work to increase DBE participation in the City’s SLDBE Certification Program by targeting underrepresented industries or geographic areas. 2. Work closely with the Mayor’s communications team to ensure regular updates and resources are shared with potential and current participants. 3. Organize and lead community outreach events such as informational webinars, vendor fairs, and networking events, to engage current and potential DBEs and educate and get them more involved in the City’s Equitable Business Opportunities Program. 4. Participate in DBE Bootcamps to support the Certification and Procurement Teams’ efforts to ensure new DBEs understand the steps to effectively participate in City contracts and set them up for success by connecting them with relevant resources and mentorship. 5. Participate in Certifests to support the Certification Team’s efforts to provide support to SLDBE applicants as they work to complete the application process. 6. Develop and implement strategies for effective capacity building that focus on enhancing business skills, navigating city procurement processes, and fostering financial growth. 7. Maintain relationships and build strategic partnerships with other DBE agency organizers, non-profit organizations, technical partners, and ecosystem organizations that can provide valuable services for DBE vendors. 8. Develop and implement a comprehensive system for tracking the impact of capacity-building activities and initiatives. Collect data and feedback to assess the success of training programs, outreach efforts, and other activities. Provide regular reports to management on program performance and suggest improvements or new initiatives to enhance the capacity-building efforts of the Office of Supplier Diversity. 9. Manage and maintain the DBE Mentor-Protégé Program by soliciting participation, managing the intake process, supervising the mentor pairings, organizing the annual cohort introductory program, performing check-ins, reviewing quarterly reports, regularly providing updates to vendors involved in the mentorship program, and recruiting more vendors to be involved as mentors or mentees. 10. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
