Peacock Room, in partnership with the soulful husband-and-wife duo Da Lovebirds, is thrilled to present the Winter Soul-stice show on Saturday, December 21. The special edition of the music series kicking off the first day of winter will feature a performance by Da Lovebirds alongside acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, author, and ethnographic photographer Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes. Da Lovebirds, the husband-and-wife duo of Robin Barnes and Pat Casey, will bring their soulful, sultry sound to the space that loves them so much at the gorgeous Peacock Room. Fronted by Barnes, “The Songbird of New Orleans” and a “Louisiana State Ambassador” who has shared the stage with more than a few musical heavyweights, the group will now welcome a talented member of the musical family to the space. Sunpie is a true Renaissance man with a diverse resume that includes serving as the Big Chief of the Northside Skull and Bone Gang. He’s also the band leader of the famous New Orleans musical group Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots. Sunpie is a former National Park Service Ranger, high school biology teacher, college football All-American, and NFL football player for the Kansas City Chiefs. As a musician, he masters the accordion, harmonica, piano, rubboard, talking drum, and djembe, blending blues, zydeco, Creole jazz, gospel, work songs, and Caribbean and African-influenced rhythms and melodies. Guests can enjoy the performances while indulging in delicious favorites from Peacock Room's menu, like the Peacock Smash Burger, Rock Candy Braised Short Ribs, NOLA Hot Chicken Sandwich, and signature cocktails. The Jade Dragon is an homage to the cultural melting pot of New Orleans and blends Japanese gin with a Mexican tradition of verdita. Another Place and Time is made with walnut-infused 12-year scotch rounded out with the sweetness of sherry. Peacock Room also offers unique holiday cocktails through New Year’s Eve. These crafty creations include the Helekalikimaka, made with rum, apricot, yuzu curacao, spiced oolong orgeat, and lime. The Glitter End is served in an ornament and features Bacardi Ocho, Tattersall Apple Pommeau, spiced cranberry, lemon, and glitter, of course. Deck the Halls, made with vodka, amaretto, creme de cacao, cream, and sprinkles, is creamy, sweet, and playful.
