King Cake Tasting with King Cake Connection and Treme Brass Band

Don’t miss a chance to sample locally baked king cakes and Carnival themed treats from the King Cake Connection, a collaboration of Black-owned New Orleans bakeries, at The Shop at the Collection on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 1-3 p.m. Guests will enjoy live music provided by Treme Brass Band and a complimentary cocktail. Attendees will be able to participate in a bling tasting competition to crown their favorite bakery. Participating bakeries include Adrian’s Bakery, Viola’s, Heavenly Sweets Bakery, B Sweet Bistro and MadiCakez. "Our partnership with The Historic New Orleans Collection and this event is incredibly important for the bakers and artists selling their products through the King Cake Connection,” says Jalence Isles of King Cake Connection. “It exposes our visitors, who sustain our local economy, to the amazing products offered within our community. King Cake Connection, an extension of Where Black NOLA Eats, aims to increase visibility and cash flow to Black business owners. Currently, Black business owners earn only two percent of the City’s small business income. Partnerships like this one with The Historic New Orleans Collection help amplify our mission and contribute to changing this harrowing narrative." A variety of King cakes and king-cake themed treats will be available at The Shop at the Collection daily during Carnival season. Admission is $15 ($5 for THNOC members), and tickets will be sold at the door.
