In Memory of Michael Javery

The New Orleans Chamber of Commerce has the unfortunate task of announcing the passing of our board member, Mr. Michael Javery.

Mr. Javery held the position of Vice President of Operations for Lockheed Martin Space Systems – Michoud Operations, which builds the Space Shuttle External Tank at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans.  This title afforded him the responsibility for production engineering, assembly manufacturing, test and delivery of all Michoud Operations products.  He also oversaw strategic alignment in developing long-range goals and actions.

Mr. Javery started his career as a test engineer in 1977 after serving six years as an avionics officer in the U.S. Navy.  He served in a number of production areas and advanced to the senior staff engineering level.  He was appointed Vice President of Operations in 2004.

A native of Slidell, Louisiana, Javery holds electrical engineering and business administration degrees from West Hills College in Fresno, California.  He is a past recipient of Black Achievers in Business & Industry and a member of Who’s Who Among African-Americans.

Michael was in his first term as a member of the Board of Directors and his interest and support was quite evident.  We regret that his illness prevented him from reaching his potential as a member.  Our prayers and thoughts are extended to his family.  The Board will observe his memory at the next meeting of our Board.  We thank him very much for his time and commitment to the Chamber.
